What is hosting?

Basically, hosting refers to the computer that your domain points to (see Domains), where your website pages reside.

How much will hosting my site cost?

That really depends on your website needs and the host you choose, our consultation will help you decide this. But most sites can get away with the lower of the Linux packages being offered, around $5 per month.

Will you purchase my hosting for me or host it for me?

Sure, we’ll purchase and administer your hosting account for you, but designLeaps DOES NOT host sites. All hosting is done through a third party.

Where can I get hosting?

You have many options, but again, we love GoDaddy.com. If you would prefer a host closer to home, we can work with that as well. You will have to go ahead and setup the hosting and payment with a website host beforehand though. Then provide us with their contact information and let them know we’ll be calling. If you leave it up to us, we will take care of the hosting and simply bill you for it on a yearly basis. In Richmond, we’ve worked with EBS Computer Sales for local hosting needs.

I went ahead and purchased my domain and hosting, but it’s not working!

Oh boy, well it’s over, you might as well forget about a website!
Just kidding…after you purchase your domain, we can walk you through giving us access to the domain controls. Once we have access, we can take care of everything else for you, email routing and linking the hosting account to your domain. You will still retain complete control of the domain, you will not be transferring the domain to us.
